The Office of the University Registrar is here to make the transfer to UA as smooth as possible. Our transfer credit team is responsible for processing all transfer credit, including AP, IB, CLEP, dual enrollment and military credit. Our office also facilitates all transfer credit evaluations for both prospective and current UA students. If you have additional questions not addressed on this website, please contact our Transfer Credit team at 205-348-2020 or transfercredit@ua.edu. Roll Tide!

Official transcripts for all postsecondary institutions attended must be submitted to the Office of the University Registrar. UA will not accept unofficial copies of transcripts. Official transcripts are those submitted directly to UA in a sealed envelope by the originating institution. Official electronic transcripts are those submitted directly to UA by the originating institution, normally through a third-party provider such as the National Student Clearinghouse or Parchment. UA will only accept a transcript directly from the student provided it is delivered in the envelope sealed by the originating institution and marked as official. Official transcripts being sent via regular mail should be sent to the mailing address provided at the bottom of this page. Official transcripts being sent via FedEx, UPS or other carrier should be sent to the physical address provided at the bottom of this page. In cases where an email address is needed for electronic delivery, the transcript should be sent to transfercredit@ua.edu.
Students should allow approximately 7 business days for an official transcript to be processed once it has been received. UA maintains Transfer Credit Equivalency tables for transfer courses that have been previously evaluated. Courses that do not exist in these tables will be reviewed and evaluated at the time the transcript is received. Once an equivalency has been determined, the course will be posted to the student record and added to the Transfer Credit Equivalency Tables. Transfer courses posted to the UA record are immediately viewable in myBama on the Academic Transcript. Transfer courses posted to the UA record will be applied to the Degree Works audit overnight and will be viewable the next day. The complete Transfer Credit Policy can be found in the Undergraduate Catalog.
UA maintains Transfer Credit Equivalency Tables for transfer courses that have been previously evaluated. These tables are not an exhaustive list of all transferable courses. To request that a course be evaluated and added to these tables, email transfercredit@ua.edu. Please provide the name and location of the institution, the course id and title, and any supporting documentation such as a syllabus or course outline. A Transfer Credit Evaluator will review the information and inform you of the UA equivalency.
All courses that are acceptable for transfer will be posted to a student’s UA record, regardless of grade. Students cannot pick and choose which courses to transfer. Grades earned are factored into the student’s Overall GPA, but not into the UA GPA. You can find a detailed explanation of both the Overall GPA and the UA GPA in the Undergraduate Catalog.
Graduate students must contact the Graduate School directly to inquire about transferring credits. That office can be reached at 205-348-5921 or gradschool@ua.edu. Graduate students should submit their official transcripts directly to the Graduate School.
Alabama Transfers provides guidance and direction for prospective transfer students in the State of Alabama. The website allows public two-year students in Alabama to obtain a Transfer Guide for the major of their choice. If used correctly, it guides the student through their first two years of coursework and prevents loss of credit hours upon transfer to a four-year university in Alabama.
